Description
The Drenotube acts as a drain when the water table rises, rather than only accept rainwater soaking into it from above. The perforated pipe is surrounded by Expanded Polystyrene and wrapped ¾ pf the way round with a geotextile fabric. The fabric does not go the full way around the polystyrene and the product is placed into the trench with the “open” side facing down. This means that when the water table rises (due to rainfall) the water will enter the perforated pipe (which has been set to a fall between 0.5 and 5° pitch) and drain away into the drainpipe / soakaway / sump.
The geotextile is wrapped in a polyethylene net, to keep everything together. Each pipe comes with a connector pipe section which has a drat shaped clip on the inside to hook around the ribbed perforated pipe for a solid connection. Once this black connector is secured it is almost impossible to get off (it will have to be cut). This is a major advantage over some of the other brands.
The standard product has a 110mm diameter perforated pipe, covered in EPS pellets so that the overall diameter is 300mm. These pellets are different sizes, so the drainage section will not become compacted and solidify, thereby ensuring proper drainage flow in the long-term.
