This manhole cover lifter from Mustang Tools, the Chinook, can be operated by one person and allows you to have the manhole cover up and out of the way within minutes of arrival on site. Fitting compactly into a car boot, the Chinook Manhole Cover Lifter is just 15kg and 1200mm long.
To operate the manhole cover lifter you simply place the Chinook on the cover, attach the keys and then rotate the handles clockwise. This will raise the cover. All you need to do is pull the wheel to arc the cover round and away from the manhole. Chinook Manhole Cover Lifter breaks the seal of the cover for all types of manhole cover and will work with hole centres from 50mm to 850mm. The lifters are compatible with the following manhole covers:
