As a cost-effective solution for your sealing needs, this EVERFLEX SILICONE 700T is a low modulus, neutral, oxime cure RTV silicone sealant that bonds to both porous and non-porous surfaces without requiring priming. Its high viscosity grade ensures excellent tooling properties and resistance to mould and bacterial attack.
Ideal for a range of applications, including perimeter pointing, weather and joint sealing to pre-formed panels and soft metal sealing, this versatile sealant is perfect for use on uPVC, wood and plastic trims and components. It's also suitable for use as an expansion joint sealant and for general draughtproofing, as well as parapet and roof weather sealing. Before application, you should ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from grease, dust and other contaminants. You can use EVERFLEX PVC SOLVENT CLEANER on PVC or white spirits on painted surfaces. If priming is needed, Everbuild Silicone Primer P1 for porous and NP2 for non-porous substrates can be used.
For joint design, make sure to follow the recommended minimum width of 5mm and depth of no less than 5mm to accommodate maximum movement. Movement capacity will be impaired if the depth is larger than the width. Joints above 10mm wide should be half the width in depth up to 20mm and a minimum of 10mm for even wider joints. For deeper joints, use EVERFLEX FIX AND FILL FOAM or a suitable joint backer rod to reduce the depth. All joints should be designed to avoid water retention or traps and triangular fillets should be no less than 12mm across the face with a flat or convex face.
Application is easy with a standard sealant gun, and using a spatula or piece of wood to smooth down the sealant is essential for a proper bond. When cutting the top of the cartridge, take care not to damage the thread. Apply the nozzle and cut at a 45° angle with an opening slightly larger than the gap to be sealed. Optimal results can be achieved by keeping steady pressure on the trigger with the gun at a constant angle to the surface. To improve the appearance of the joint, use masking tape on both sides and remove it within five minutes of application.
