Please do not apply in a circular motion as this will leave an impression on the lead.
Lead Mate Patination Oil has been specially formulated to provide a protective coating for newly installed leadwork that helps to prevent the white carbonate staining that affects new lead and surrounding tiles, brickwork, stonework etc.
Just one coat of Patination Oil also helps to provide a uniform, attractive appearance to newly installed lead and helps the ageing process whilst the natural patina of the lead is being formed.
It is particularly important to treat areas of newly installed lead that are subject to water flowing over the surface onto surrounding areas as staining of tile and brick will be more severe in such circumstances.
The no spill pack means no more spills or drips to clean up, and easier application.
Application
Shake can well before use. Surfaces must be totally dry before application and apply oil evenly using a soft absorbent cloth, work horizontally starting at the top and maintain a wet edge at all times. Only one coat is required. Before clipping apply to the underside of the lead approx 50mm from the edge. Apply patination oil to all areas, including clips, trims and coat between laps.
Important: Always apply as soon as possible after installation, or at the end of each working day. If rain is expected apply before it rains.
Storage
Store in cool, dry conditions between 5 and 30°C and ensure good ventilation.
Shelf life
12 months from date of manufacture when stored as directed. Storage outside these paramenters will dramatically reduce shelf life.
