These 'Ensign' branded cast iron couplings are part of a highly dependable and durable below-ground drainage platform, providing a range of naturally beneficial material strengths alongside reliable design features. Cast iron presents naturally high mechanical strength, resisting crushing, thermal expansion, and wear, with the Ensign system complementing this natural toughness with a system of internal and external coatings. Cast iron also makes for a much quieter system, resisting the vibrations that result from normal use.
The system as a whole utilises a system of easy-to-use, high-performance mechanical couplings, as well as push-fit options available for above-ground applications. These below-ground couplings use a retrofit-friendly design, grip collar and over-clamps, as well as high-strength steel that can withstand pressures of 10 bar. In addition, the entire system is certified for a range of safety and quality benchmarks including EN877 and is rated A1 for fire safety standards, the material being naturally resilient to heat.
