Description

Becker Tunnels introduces the Sustainable Soakaway Module for the soakage to ground of domestic effluent, where mains drainage is unavailable.

This innovative concept (Pat.GB1803238) redefines the role of a drainage field, providing the customer with a choice when replacing a failed drainage system. The Becker Tunnel cleaning module is positioned at the downstream end of a new minimum 4 module field. It has a cleaning port which provides access for both high pressure water jetting together and suction removal, enabling a soakaway to be accessed every 5 years to remove the biomat build up, a chemical reaction which would require a trenched version to be abandoned completely.

Becker Tunnels Septic Soakaway Tunnel Installation

  • Minimum 3.0m from existing drainage field and 15.0m from buildings.
  • Minimum depth of cover 250mm for pedestrian and 750mm for domestic vehicle loads.
  • Excavate 1.0metre wide trench to suitable depth and sufficient length for 4 units minimum.
  • Install on 20mm pea shingle floor 100mm depth with downstream fall to cleaning module.
  • Lay 1.0metre wide 10mm plastic mesh to floor.
  • Connect tunnels to each other using their unique interlocking flanges.
  • Wrap outside surfaces of tunnels with filtering geo-textile.
  • Backfill with pea shingle to mid level of tunnels.
  • Reinstate.
