Without metal reinforcement in its construction, this ACO Wildlife Refuge eliminates any disruption to magnetic fields, preventing disorientation among the resident animals. Moreover, the use of polymer concrete, known for its low thermal conductivity, means the internal temperature stays comfortably lower, even in scorching conditions. Its open base design ensures the natural ground humidity remains intact where it is placed.
The ACO Wildlife Refuges come in five variants, each tailored to provide a safe haven for specific small animal species. Different entrance types and sizes are strategically incorporated to deter predators while allowing smaller creatures to find shelter. The Type 1 boards a fully open 160mm x 100mm (nominal) entrance, making it ideal for a variety of small animals, including hedgehogs. Types 2 and 3, with their slotted entrances, cater to the needs of newts, lizards and invertebrates, while Type 4 is specially designed for insects.
