Description

In any concrete structure, there will be a degree of moisture retained within its mass following construction. After the roof is waterproofed, it is crucial to provide a means for this residual moisture to escape the system. Without it, there's a potential that built-up moisture will protrude from the top of the structure, causing bubbles, blisters and even rupture that will affect the waterproof seal. Vents effectively redirect this moisture away from the concrete slab.

Positioned onto the exposed concrete surface beneath the waterproofing membrane and insulation, the membrane is applied over the base of the vent, creating a 'flue' that facilitates the evacuation of vapour from the concrete. The round base plate (or flange) is equipped with a series of ribs underneath, promoting the flow of vapour along the base and into the tube (or flue). It serves to mitigate any buildup of hot air between the slab and the membrane, which is often evident through blistering and bubbling of the membrane material.
