From Hargreaves Foundry, this gutter internal stopend is used to prevent the flow of water at a specific end of a gutter. Manufactured with cast iron, the material is sustainable. This means it can be fully recycled after its lifetime and not 'downcycled' like other materials.
When installed and maintained correctly, the system can last up to 100 years. The pipes are highly resistant to distortion caused by accidental damage or vandalism and can withstand the weight of ladders, storms or heavy snow. So little maintenance is required, with occasional painting needed approximately every ten years to maintain appearance. For noise concerns, the cast iron material is very quiet when operating as low noise levels are due to sound deadening properties of cast iron. So they won't rattle in high winds. This is also important when cast iron is exposed to extreme temperatures as there is very little expansion and contraction. Meaning noisy clicking or creaking guttering sounds are not heard.
