Description

Commercial kitchens and food processing establishments generate a significant amount of FOG’s from their specific daily operations. If these are not treated before entering the main drainage network then this may lead to major issues with your drainage and have an adverse impact on the local environment and business operation. Building Regulations in the UK have made it mandatory to install a suitable trap, separator or treatment system in commercial premises preparing hot food with wash down sinks to help the removal of FOGs from wastewater.

How does the GTS above ground grease trap work?

Wastewater containing FOGs enters the unit at the inlet.
Any food solids in the flow will drop to the base of the filter basket where they are trapped and can be removed from the basket during maintenance or when required. Smaller solids may pass through the basket but they will settle at the base of the trap.
The lighter grease and oil will pass through the filter basket and rise to the top of the trap, where they are trapped in suspension . This operation continues into the second stage via the gap at the base of the primary baffle and again any liquefied/immiscible fat, oil and grease will float the top of the second chamber and over time this will form into a thick layer at the top of the trap This process takes out a significant amount of the FOG's.
Separated mid water in the main settlement chamber will then pass into the outlet baffle and into the drainage system. Further post treatment can be applied with our Grease Ease Dosing System.
